People search for this, so let us answer it honestly rather than pretend: Clash Royale is not really built to be a couple game. It is a one-on-one competitive ladder. That does not mean couples do not play it — plenty do — but the way they make it work is not the way the game is designed.
What Clash Royale is
Short real-time duels where you deploy troops against one opponent, with a deck you build over time and a trophy ladder that tracks how good you are. Matches last a few minutes. Progression is slow and tied to card collection.
The problem for two people
You cannot meaningfully climb together. The ladder is individual, your card levels are individual, and if one of you has played for two years, friendly matches are not close. Playing a stronger partner in a game this direct is not fun for long on either side — one of you is holding back, which is its own kind of insult.
How couples actually play it
- 2v2 against other people. This is the real answer. Team up, play strangers together, and you are on the same side. Card level gaps matter far less.
- Same clan. Donate to each other, chat, do clan wars. You are playing near each other rather than against.
- Friendly battles for fun decks. Agree in advance that it is silly decks only, and nobody is trying.

Practical notes
It is free, it is cross-platform between iPhone and Android, and adding each other is done through the in-game friend list or a shared clan. If you cannot see each other, check you are both signed in to an account rather than playing on a guest profile.
