Both free, both loud, both very popular with couples who want something quick after dinner. They suit completely different pairs of people, and the deciding question is uncomfortable but useful: how far apart are you two in skill?
Stumble Guys
Stumble Guys is a wipeout-style race where everybody is bad at it. The physics are deliberately silly, falling over is the main event, and winning feels more like luck than skill even when it is not. That is the feature. Neither of you can really be better at it in a way that makes the other feel small.
Brawl Stars
Brawl Stars is a real competitive game with a real skill ceiling. Characters to learn, modes to understand, a ladder that cares how good you are. If you both enjoy getting better at something, it is far more rewarding than Stumble Guys and it lasts much longer.
If only one of you enjoys that, it goes wrong fast. The stronger player starts coaching, the other starts dreading it, and within a fortnight somebody has stopped suggesting it.
The honest test
Ask the less experienced person this: when we lose, do you want to know why? If the answer is yes, Brawl Stars is a great shared project. If the answer is “no, I just want to mess about”, pick Stumble Guys and do not negotiate.
Side by side
- Round length: both are short. Stumble Guys is shorter.
- Skill gap tolerance: Stumble Guys is forgiving, Brawl Stars is not.
- Playing as a team: Brawl Stars has proper 3v3 modes, so you can be on the same side.
- Cross-platform: both work between iPhone and Android.
That third point is worth weighing. Brawl Stars lets you be teammates rather than opponents, which changes the mood a lot — see competitive or co-op for why that matters more than people expect.
If neither quite fits
